How can I search for quantitative research articles?
There are search terms you can add to your search to try to narrow your search to quantitative articles. For example, in CINAHL, there is a CINAHL Heading for “Quantitative Studies.” You can add this on a separate search line in the advanced search boxes.
In the Advanced Search in CINAHL, you can limit your search to randomized controlled trial by checking the box under the “Limit your results” area halfway down in the right column if you want to focus on finding a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT). This is a very narrow search option, so you may not find a RCT for every topic. Try searching for quantitative studies generally as mentioned above.
Note that mixed methods articles can appear when you search for "Quantitative Studies" because they are assigned the heading "Quantitative Studies" and "Qualitative Studies." Make sure to review the article to see make sure it is not mixed methods when prohibited by your assignment.
