How do I get my staff email on my Android device?
Answer
The Android OS is open source, meaning that anyone who wants it can use it for free and make any modifications. This makes it very popular with phone manufacturers, but it also means that the Operating System on every model of phone that uses Android will be somewhat different from the next. Because of this, the way you setup email accounts might be different from other phones. The following instructions will guide you through what settings to use:
1. Navigate to your account setup screen and choose Add Account.
2. Select Corporate ActiveSync, if there is no option for ActiveSync, choose “other”.
3. Enter the following information when prompted:
Email Address: Your full PUC email address
Username: Your Career Account username (the same username you log into the campus computers with)
Password: Your Career Account password
Domain: staff (you may need to enter it as staff\ )
Note: Your phone may not have separate fields for Domain and Username. If the field is labeled as domain\username, enter staff\your username. Make sure you enter a back slash ( \ ) and not a forward slash ( / )
Server: owa.purduecal.edu
Note: You may see a message “Allow Device Administration”, please respond yes to this prompt. This will allow the Exchange E-Mail system to provide configuration that allows it to remotely send additional authorization and authentication protocols to your phone and request additional permissions from the user before allowing the user to authenticate to the Exchange server.
